Peter has been a percussionist performing with the pit orchestra for numerous Brentwood College musial productions including Mary Poppins, West Side Story, and Spamalot.
The Cowichan Musical Society has been thrilled with the musical contributions of Peter in many of their productions as percussionist and/or drummer. He especially enjoyed their latest production of How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, performing with Yvonne who was musical director and pianist. Participation in past shows included Music Man, South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, Iolanthe, Pirates of Penzance, Anne of Green Gables, and Anything Goes.
Peter also appreciates perfoming with local orchestras such as the Vancouver Island Symphony, the Cowichan Consort, and the Cowichan Band.
Peter's love of music began at an early age when he was forunate to receive both Piano and Drum lessons. His interest in drums and percussion continued through high school where he was introduced to classical, rock, and jazz genres. Peter pursued this passion in University, attending the University of Alberta where he studied with Brian Jones and graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance. He is amazingly adept at all of the percussion instruments including the marimba, vibraphone, and xylphone. He performs regularly with Yvonne in a piano and marimba duo playing original compositions by Yvonne along with arrangements of a variety of repertoire.
The University experience opened many musical doors for Peter, as it gave him an opportunity to perform as a percussionist with the Edmonton Symphony, drum with two big bands, and play in jazz and pit orchestras. He was fortunate to spend four years with a recording Top 40 band, Hyperion, who recorded their own album and toured Canada for a year.
Peter is thrilled to be a part of the Wayne Kozak Trio and this ensemble continues to perform throughout Vancouver Island. The ensemble enjoys entertaining audiences in concerts, at the local wineries, local entertainment venues, and at private parties.
Peter also is the jazz drummer for the Island Big Band and has played with them for four years. They often perform at Hermann's Jazz Club in Victoria and at various jazz venues.
Peter also enjoys drumming for the Devon Bailey Big Band who play gigs throughout Vancouver Island and the lower mainland.
